Ginger Micksch has always enjoyed being creative and has experimented with a variety of art forms, coming to love flowers of all kinds during her 20 years in the floral business. When she sold her shop in 2002, she found the time to pursue an interest in painting. Realizing she was not ready to give up flowers completely, she made them the primary subject of her watercolors. They have found their way onto note cards, stationery and prints.
She has taken classes from several well-known area artists and enjoys learning new techniques and experimenting with various styles.
Shortly after beginning her new "career" as an artist, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. For an entire year the lives of Ginger and her family were redirected toward fighting the disease. Watercolor became a great diversion and helped in her healing process. Now a survivor, she volunteers with several breast cancer organizations, speaking to groups about the importance of early detection. She feels she has been given a second chance at life and helps others by donating a portion of the proceeds of her artwork to breast cancer research in hope of finding a cure.
Ginger was born and raised in Green Bay and is married to Wayne Micksch. They have three married children and two grandchildren.
